Hunters and collectors: the work of ABC’s News Libraries across archives and TV news production

Abstract

This reflection aims to acknowledge and celebrate the work of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s TV News Libraries in the wake of their closure in December 2022 as part of an ABC Archives restructure.

Benjamin Pask, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Sydney, NSW, Australia

Benjamin Pask is a graduate of University of East Anglia’s MA in Film Archiving. He has held roles at the Scottish Screen Archive, BBC Worldwide, and worked on George Harrison’s archive for Martin Scorsese’s documentary film Living in the Material World. He joined the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Archives in 2009, and was a Cataloguer/ Researcher at their TV News Library in Sydney until its closure in December 2022.
